Making Life Interesting

I got called a “fag” while out on a wonderful bike ride today!

Oh boy, my first slur-thingy.

It was really strange, too. Like, I was just riding my bike along the road, across a bridge, and all of sudden I hear this low-riding truck honk and it’s three passengers screaming at me. I don’t even… know. Like, why would you do that? I’m not being obnixious on my bike, or having any contact with you at all…. I doubt you even know me. Unless my gray shirt and black shorts gave away my identity and you think you know me from high school.

But in a way, I feel like this is a rite of passage or something, which is kinda horrible of me to say. Like, I’ve never been called anything offensive, other than loser and that basic “you’re nothing” name calling, but that hasn’t happened since my freshman year. Mostly because after freshman year, everyone came to the realization, I wouldn’t be afraid to deck them. Then again, no one around me has ever really assumed that I was queer. And if they did, they were trying to tell me it was okay and they didn’t care and all that. Eh. Moving on with my life.
